Make A 2018 Vision Board? …Why Not?

Well I recently made a vision board for the very first time for the upcoming year. My daughter-in-law had told me how she had made them in the past and how effective they have been for her. So this year, I thought, “Why not?”

How can you describe a vision board? Simply, it is a poster that you create, filled with things you envision happening for you in the future. And it is more than just visions of things you want. It includes affirmations and things you see happening in your life. There are no rules, no right and no wrong. You focus on what you see happening for your life. Fill it with as little or as much as you like. I cut pictures out of magazines and wrote in words of affirmation. If you are artistic, draw in some things that are important to you. Just personalize it for you!

Creating it on your own definitely works. Or creating it with someone else makes it fun and can give you additional insight on things to include. My daughter-in-law and I had a fun time just going through magazines, cutting out pictures, sharing our thoughts and what we were looking for and talking about what we see happening in our lives for the coming year. That made it really special.

I would suggest keeping it simple. It does not have to be a big production. Another name I call my vision board is, my destination board. It is where I would like to see myself throughout my journey through the next year. It shows me where I want to be. When you visualize, you see the possibilities. Now how I get there is up to me.

It is important to keep it in a spot where you can see it often, thus allowing you to create in your mind a road map on achieving or attaining your visions. Also having it visible allows you to keep it in the forefront of your minding help focus you.

With a vision board, there are no time tables. Unlike New Year’s goals that we tend to set and seldom make it through the initial week of setting our goals, a vision board frees you from time restraints. It is encouragement to keep thinking about what you envision for your life and continue to come up with ideas on how to make things happen.

Take a look at my 2018 Vision Board video below and my steps in putting it together! And I encourage you to give it a try. You might really like it!

  1. Wow – this is so wonderful my family and I did a vision board before the end of 2017. It was such a fun project we did it with three other families . We have them all up. I am expecting greatness this year and can’t wait to see what God has in store for 2018 for me.
Thanks for keeping me in the loop.
