It would seem that the “king of trash talk” has become outraged that half of his followers have dared to be called deplorable by Hilary Clinton. She went as far as apologizing, which I personally, feel is unwarranted. While I agree that apologizing is the right thing to do when lies have been spoken and when intentional harm has been the aim, in this case, I feel she merely said what masses of people are saying each and every day, as we shake our heads in disbelief at the rhetoric coming from him and his supporters.
First of all to be outraged at a word we need to fully understand what it means. Deplorable means deserving of strong condemnation. It is synonymous with the words, disgraceful, shameful, and unforgivable. I am sure all of us can use these descriptors as we search to describe the actions we have seen from supporters at his rallies and from conversations with his allies.
I feel like I am walking in a Twilight Zone movie because who has led the pack in insulting others more than Trump himself? There is not one group, he seems to have left unscathed. from his condemnation and insulting remarks. During an interview in Feb. 2016 when asked about the Klan supporting him, his comments were: “You wouldn’t want me to condemn a group that I know nothing about. I would have to look. If you would send me a list of the groups, I will do research on them. And, certainly, I would disavow if I thought there was something wrong.”
I say, “Give me a break!” He has to research the Klan? What universe is he living in?” Yet our media continues to give him a free pass and rather than call him out on his actions, they seem to be holding him at a different standard. The media in this country has shown that they would rather make their coverage “The Donald Trump Show” for ratings rather than inform people of facts and report the truth. They are bought and paid for and they have fed us their slant in ways that I have never seen before. It is insulting to me as it should be to every citizen.
Trump continues to not be held accountable by fact checkers. Dr. Oz even went as far to say, he will not ask any questions that Trump does not want to answer during an upcoming visit to his show. By the way, thank you Dr. Oz because that pretty much frees me from watching any of your future shows. Good Morning America has also left a very bad taste in my mouth. Not that it was serious journalism in the first place, but to be bombarded with Trump on a daily basis is quite a nauseating way to start my day.
What has been most frustrating to me is while not all of Trump’s supporters are “deplorable”, there are some good people who I no longer look at now with the same lens that I have in the past. For me, speaking for myself, if you support him, you are aligning yourself with a leader who is racist, sexist, uninformed, dangerous, unreliable, a loose cannon, self-centered, self-righteous and in no way for the American people. If you support him, you have clearly shown me who you are. You have totally discounted yourself as a person who is someone I understand and will even go as far as to say I respect. Because seriously, I just don’t get you. Your support of him clearly sends a message to me on how you view issues in this country and how you care about people.
I will say what Hiliary cannot seem to stand by and even go a step further…..”Yep, you are pretty much deplorable and so are your supporters”!
Yep! That pretty much sums it up! Very well written.
Hahaha! That is as nicely as I could put it. For the life of me, I do not get how people can support him. Says a lot about their character, I would say.
